“Greta the Great”

Greta wore her last Oliver+S Rollerskate dress to death. She wore it a lot, and I only just retired it even though it was a size 18-24 months. It was showing a little too much leg... and bottom. So I made her a new one. I figured I was playing it safe with purple... but she doesn't like it. I think I need to loosen the elastic and then I hope she'll wear it because I love how it turned out. Simple and classic. And I know that if she just wears it, she'll love it!

This is the last hopscotch dress I'll be sharing this spring. This was also one of the first round dresses. I started out making a 3T (for Greta) and a 4T (for Holly), but I ended up melting the 3T (whoops), and as it turned out the 4T was too small for Holly. I tossed the melted one, and the other one sat in my cupboard for a while. And then I finally trimmed off some of the length and hemmed it and now Greta can wear it. Greta has more knit dresses than she truly needs but I don't feel so bad since dresses and skirts are all she wears. She does not wear pants/shorts, the only exception is about once a month she'll wear a pair of pajama pants to bed. I made her a pair of shorts last month. Her response, "I didn't want shorts! I wanted a skirt."

She'll wear this dress 2-3 days in a row... so I'd say it's a win.

Each of our daughters have duplicates of their lovies. Each has eventually picked a favorite and rejected the other. Holly called her favorite duck "nice" and the one she rejected was the "angry duck." Greta followed suit also labeling her bunnies, but lately, she's showing her previously rejected bunny some love. Maybe because he's softer than the very loved bunny? I'm not sure. Either way, I love seeing her with her arms full of bunnies. Really adorable.

This set of photos helps to show the range of facial expressions Greta's demonstrating these days. Kiddo is a crack up!

Greta's horse dress is pretty much the same as Holly's dress. I made similar changes to the pattern to get what I wanted. I did choose to make the dress a little longer than I typically make dresses. It took a bit of bribery to get Greta into the dress for a couple pictures. I really love it on her and I'm hopeful she'll get a good amount of use out of it! I've noticed a pattern with my girls. Sometimes a dress doesn't become really loved until it's been hanging in their closet for 6 months minimum. And typically, that means the season has already passed...

Greta was sick this last week. She's doing better now, but she spent about 5 days feverish and tired and a little bit miserable. While sick, her three favorite things really made themselves clear. First, bunny. Always bunny. Second, her blue blanket. She likes her blue blanket, but this last week, it went to a whole new level. The blanket goes everywhere with her! And third, her Daddy. Greta transformed into the biggest Daddy's girl. She wants to be near him all the time. If he wasn't home when she woke up in the morning, Greta would cry big tears. I don't blame the girl. He's a pretty great guy.
